Aileen Bredenkamp

Aileen M. Bredenkamp, 92, of Kearney died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Good Samaritan St. Johns Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 23, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Reverend Eric Lesher officiating. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be submitted to www.osrfh.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney. Aileen was born on May 1, 1921, in Smithfield, NE to Clarence and Nellie (Frescoln) Coy. She was baptized in the Smithfield Methodist Church on August 28, 1921 and graduated from Smithfield High School in 1939. She received her two year teaching certificate in 1941 from Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney and taught school in Shelton, Lexington and Holdrege. On June 15, 1943, she was untied into marriage to Edwin Bredenkamp in her parent's home. After her marriage she became a member of Hope Lutheran Church of Smithfield and she was a dedicated wife, mother and very good homemaker on their farm in Gosper County. In 1973 they retired and moved to Kearney and transferred to the First Lutheran Church. Aileen enjoyed traveling after they retired, reading, belonging to Circle and sewing groups at the church and playing her piano. She thoroughly enjoyed her family especially her grand kids and great grandkids. After Edwin passed way in 2001 Aileen moved to the Regency Retirement Residence in Kearney and enjoyed her years there till health issues required her to move to St. John's She is survived by her son; Rodney and wife Rebecca Bredenkamp of Kearney; daughters, Diane and husband Steven McCoy of Arapahoe, Susan and husband Ted Betzold of Kearney; grandchildren, Angela and husband Jon of Kearney, Eric and wife Bridget Bredenkamp of Lincoln, Amber and husband Greg of Kearney, Joel McCoy and Nichole McCoy of Lincoln, Heather and husband Kole Kugler of Kearney, Zachary Betzold of Kearney; great grandchildren, Cassidy, Katie and Beau Sostad; Ivy, Ada, and Eve Bredenkamp; Kamryn and Blake Benson; and Kruz Kugler; sister, Merna Carlson of Lincoln; brother -in-law, Lewis Fagot of Holdrege; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents; sister, Dorothy Hansen; brother-in-law, Chester Hansen; brother-in-law Joseph Carlson of Lincoln; nephew Scott Carlson
