Arlene F. Wardyn

Arlene Wardyn, 95 Kearney resident Arlene Faye (Coulter) Wardyn, age 95, of Kearney, NE, passed away November 24, 2017 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center after living a long happy life. A Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of her life will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday at the Hazard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the church with Rosary at 6 p.m. Services are entrusted to the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. Born in Ravenna, NE to Clarence and Lillian (Stark) Coulter on June 10, 1922, Arlene grew up on the family farm with her older brother Dale and younger brother Wendell. Her mother passed away when she was 11 years old and she dearly missed her the rest of her life. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1939. Arlene married Cash Wardyn on November 22, 1943. They eventually made their home on a farm east of Litchfield, NE and were long time members of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hazard, NE. Arlene’s greatest joy were her children, Virginia “Ginny” Morse (deceased), Patricia Morse, Kenneth Wardyn (deceased), and Richard “Dick” Wardyn. Arlene’s Catholic faith was also very dear to her. Arlene and Cash moved to Kearney in 1979. They enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and bowling with friends and family. Cash passed away November 11, 1997. Arlene’s life was full with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She always remembered to send a card for birthdays and anniversaries. She leaves to celebrate her life, daughter Patricia Morse and husband Jerry of Tucson, AZ, their sons Jason Morse, Tucson, and Neil Morse and wife Monica of Phoenix, AZ. Son Richard Wardyn and wife Laura of Kearney, NE, with children Tony Wardyn of Omaha, Tara Wagner of Columbus, NE and husband Scott, Capt. Brian Kimmins of San Diego, CA and wife Emily, son Jacob Wardyn of Lincoln, NE, and daughter Miranda Walford of Kearney with husband Spencer. Son-in-law Dana Morse of Ochelata, OK, with daughter Jennifer McIver and husband Doug of Bartlesville, OK, son Beau Morse of Wichita, KS., and daughter Debi Davis of Navarre, FL. Daughter-in-law Cindy Wardyn of Litchfield, NE with son Kevin Wardyn of Grand Island, NE and wife Katie, daughter Christa Mulder of Phillipsburg, KS and husband Chris, and daughter Melissa Trew of Merna, NE. 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, daughter Virginia, son Kenneth, brothers Dale Coulter and Wendell Coulter, and great-granddaughter Jessica McIver. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
