Kearney resident, 67 Brad Bowman, 67, of Kearney, Neb., died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, in Mesquite, NV. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. John Gosswein officiating. Burial will be 9:30 am at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation is 4:30 to 6:30 pm Friday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. Brad was born January 25, 1950 in Arnold, Nebraska to Chet and Dottie (Beltz) Bowman. He grew up in Fremont and Kearney and was a 1968 graduate to Kearney High School. Brad would later graduate from Kearney State College in 1972. On March 10, 1979, he was united in marriage to Kay Larsen in Hazard, NE. Brad became a member of the Kansas City Board of Trade in 1973 and spent the next 45 years merchandising grain throughout the United States. He also owned and operated B4 Cattle as well as various farming interests. Brad loved to golf, hunt and fish. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing poker and going on crop tours. Most of all, he cherished playing with his grandchildren. Brad was a member of the Kearney First Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Kay Bowman of Kearney; sons Brett Bowman and wife Shawna of Kearney, Christopher Bowman and wife Amy of Kearney; grandchildren Gavin, Parker, Sawyer, and Carson; mother Dottie Bowman of Kearney; sister and brother-in-law Tami Hellman and husband Jerry of Kearney; nieces and nephews Jacy Dunham and husband Darrell Dunham, Jolie Bosshamer and husband Bronson; great nieces and great nephews Jenna Bosshamer, Campbell Dunham, Jackson Dunham, Jacob and Jered Bosshamer; other family members include mother-in-law Henny Larsen; brothers-in-law Kirk Larsen and family, Kent Larsen and family; sisters-in-law Kari Larsen, Kate Larsen and Kris Larsen and family. Brad was preceded in death by his father. Brad lived his life with courage and conviction. His friends and family will miss his incredible wit and competitive spirit. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved and his kind and gentle heart will be cherished and missed by all who knew him.
