Cinda R. Bertrand

Cinda Bertrand, 70, of Kearney passed away of natural causes Monday, February 24, 2020, at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Kearney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kayla Mangrich officiating. A private family interment will take place at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Cinda Rae Bertrand was born March 5, 1949, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Richard and Carolyn (Hutchison) House. She received her education from Kearney High School, graduating with the class of 1967. On April 23, 1971, Cinda was united in marriage to Gale Bertrand at the First Presbyterian Church in Kearney. To this union, four children were blessed: Andy, Ben, Tyson, and Neely. The couple made their home in Kearney, where Cinda took great pride in raising her children. Cinda had a huge heart and treated every person who walked in her door like family. Her ability to turn strangers into friends was second to none. She could whip up a delicious meal in a matter of minutes; no crowd was too big for her kitchen. She was a longtime volunteer at the Good Samaritan Hospital Gift Shop and enjoyed playing cards with her many Bridge groups. She always looked forward to her date nights with Diddly. Most of all, Cinda loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many events. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gale “Diddly” Bertrand of Kearney; children, Andy Bertrand of Kearney, Ben “Pug” Bertrand and wife, Kiley of Kearney, Tyson Bertrand and wife, Jaime of Gretna, and Neely Murphy and husband, J.P. of Kearney; grandchildren, Avery, Baker and Reese Bertrand, Hudson and Turner Bertrand, and Carson, Lainey and Jack Murphy; sisters, Andra House of Kearney, Belinda Rude and husband, Gil of Kearney, Marcia Trompke of Holdrege, and Patti Swift of Kearney; brother, Richard House and his wife, Jan of Kansas City, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dolly and Orlan Grams of Minden, Leon and Luyre Bertrand of Hildreth, Glenn and Jae Bertrand of Lincoln, and Cindy and Ron Schneider of Kearney; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Jim Bertrand and Dave Swift; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Milrae Bertrand.
