Cody J. Clampitt

Cody James Clampitt, 16, of Kearney, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Kearney. Funeral services will be at 9:00 am Saturday at the Kearney Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Adrian Boykin and Pastor Brian Klein will officiate. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery in Grand Island. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Cody was born on December 2, 1999 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Jim and Angie (Buck) Clampitt. He grew up on an acreage outside of Wood River. In 2012 Cody moved to Kearney and was currently a junior at Kearney High School and had aspirations of becoming an underwater welder. Cody loved growing up on the farm where he developed his love for all animals, especially his dogs, Raven and Sierra. He was also very fond of John Deere tractors and most recently developed an interest in muscle cars, shooting firearms and playing PlayStation. He loved spending time with his family, and most of all spending time outdoors with his little brother Darren. Cody’s family and friends will always remember his wonderful sense of humor. Whether it was by his unbelievable ability to contort his body or by speaking with an Irish, German or Australian accent, Cody could always put a smile on the faces of those around him. His family will cherish the memories of their numerous trips throughout the Midwest and Texas with him. Faith was very important to Cody and he loved sharing his love of Christ with others. He attended Kearney Evangelical Free Church where he celebrated his Believer’s Baptism on February 22, 2016. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Amber Clampitt of Kearney; his mother, Angie Buck of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Darren Clampitt of Kearney; a sister, Brittiney Depoy of Kearney; his grandparents, Marilyn (Buck) and Todd Wedige of Lincoln, Verna Rae Clampitt of Alda and Jim Buck; his great grandmothers, Jane Clampitt of Lincoln and Helen Langer of Spalding; two uncles, Tom Buck of Lincoln and David Clampitt of Alda; two aunts, Lisa Buck of Lincoln and Kimberly Richardson and husband Chad of Alda; two nieces; and numerous cousins. Cody is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Gordon Clampitt; his great grandfathers, Ambrose Langer and Raymond Krolikowski; and a great uncle, Allen Clampitt.
