Connie Gillming, 62 Kearney resident Connie J. Gillming, 62, of Kearney, died Tuesday, July 4th at her home with family and close friends by her side. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Kearney Evangelical Free Church. Pastors Adrian Boykin and John Fowler will officiate. Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Evangelical Free Church or to Kearney Tackles Cancer. Connie was born May 22, 1955 in Kearney, Nebraska to Lysle and Carol (Clark) Solomon. She attended Kearney Public Schools and was a 1973 graduate of Kearney High School. Connie later attended Grand Island School of Business. On May 31, 1974, she was united in marriage to Jerry Gillming at the Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Gibbon. Connie worked as a seamstress and also in the call center at Cabela’s. Up until her retirement, she was a para educator with Kenwood Elementary and Meadowlark Elementary for 17 years. During her years of retirement she enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, decorating her home for the different seasons, collecting Precious Moments figurines, and attending her grandchildren's activities. Connie attended the Kearney Evangelical Free Church where she was active in her life group and breakfast club. She also enjoyed her “Girls Night Out” group. Connie loved her family and cherished her time spent with the grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Jerry of Kearney; son Brad (Kari) Gillming and their son Owen of Kearney, daughter Janell (Adam) Naslund and their children Dylan and Ayden of Cody, NE; siblings Eileen Gillming of Kearney, Randy (Patty) Solomon of Kearney, Laurel (Don) Benker of Gibbon, Warren (Roberta) Solomon of Kearney, Lisa (Garland) Miles of Gibbon; father-in-law and mother-in-law Marvin and Bonnie Gillming of Kearney; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ruth Solomon of Kearney, Roger (Schatzie) Gillming of Kimball, Jim (Jo) Gillming of Elm Creek, Kasie (Garth) Oliver of Katy, TX, Linda (Rick) Allum of Kearney, Tom (Angie) Gillming of Gibbon and Kurt (Delilah) Gillming of Kearney, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Connie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry Solomon.
