Cynthia "Cindy" Malone

Cynthia (Cindy) Malone, age 72, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed into God’s rest August 30, 2024, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Cindy was born October 12, 1951, in Columbus, Nebraska, the daughter of Alois and Viola (Cross) Pimper. Her early years were spent in Howells, Nebraska, before her family moved to Fremont, Nebraska. Cindy graduated from Fremont High School in the Class of 1969. Cindy attended UNL before marrying David Malone, on June 12, 1971. During their 53-year marriage they lived in Illinois and Colorado before settling in Kearney. Their two daughters, Sara and Rachel, were born while living in Kearney. Cindy was a lover of her family and her friends. Wherever she lived, whatever she did, Cindy had a way of making life-long friendships. She loved her years working at Kearney Eye Institute. She was active in the Evangelical Free Church serving as a Deaconess as well as being an inspiration and mentor to many ladies in the church. She was a softball mom making weekend trips to tournaments and a 4-H mom with a garage full of bunnies. The years at the Branson cabin made special family memories. After Dave’s retirement they were privileged to travel across America as well as visit Ireland and Israel. Cindy was an excellent seamstress smocking many dresses for little girls and knitting with the “girls” as long as she could. She was a charming hostess and wonderful cook for many gatherings of family and friends. Cindy loved the time with her six grandchildren. Cindy was a courageous cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, September 11, 2003. Through surgeries, chemo and radiation, a smile was always on her face. She never lost her zeal for life and never waivered from her trust that one day she would hear Jesus say, “…well done my good and faithful servant…” Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Al Pimper and her in-laws, Max and Maxine Malone. She is survived by her mother, Vi Pimper of Kearney; husband, Dave Malone of Kearney; daughters Sara Malone and Rachel Ulrick of Kearney; and son-in-law, John Ulrick of Ft. Eustis, Virginia; brothers Mark (Sue) Pimper of Longmont, Colorado and Dave (Amy) Pimper of Fremont; sister-in-law, Anita (Allen) Hall of Lincoln; and her grandchildren Mica, Malakai, Liberty, Jayden, Xaiah and Hanna along with nieces and nephews. A visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday, September 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service for Cindy will be held at the Kearney Evangelical Free Church, September 5th, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Pastors Adrian Boykin and John Fowler officiating.
