Donald R. Lammers, 87 Ravenna resident Donald R. Lammers, 87, of Ravenna died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral Services are 10:30 am Wednesday, June 21st at the Kearney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melody Adams officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday and one hour prior to the service all at the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kearney First United Methodist Church, Seneca Sunrise Assisted Living or to the family. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Don was born April 7, 1930 at Pleasant Valley, NE to Frank and Cora (Hughes) Lammers. He attended several schools in Buffalo County, including Ravenna High School. Don left school in the 10th grade to help on the family farm after the death of his father. Don was drafted in the United States Army in 1951 and received a medical discharge in 1952. He married Erma Luce on June 27, 1952. Don passed away 9 days short of their 65th wedding anniversary. After his discharge, he again farmed and ran a dairy near Ravenna along with Erma and their children, Nick, Mark, Tim and Barbara. In 1996, they moved to Kearney where he worked for Target for five years. In October of 2016, Don and Erma moved back to Ravenna. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and visiting with friends, and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife Erma of Ravenna; children Nick (Pat) Lammers of Wood River, Mark (Paula) Lammers of Onalaska, TX, Tim (Kathy) Lammers of Ravenna, Barbara (Dan) Harrison of Grand Island; grandchildren Adam (Audrey) Lammers, Nathan (Amber) Lammers, Justin Lammers, Deena (Drew) Schaeffer, Kylee (Blake) Greisen, Chelsie (Tyler) Doane, Stacy Lammers, Krysta (Kyle) Huse; great grandchildren Amber, Katelyn and Cora Lammers, Gracie, Dean and Wyatt Lammers, Bria, Callee and Delaney Schaeffer, Kinlee Bruce, Briggs, Harper, Hensley and Harlow Doane, Payton Hept, Kason and Kolby Huse; great great grandson Xander; brother Weert (Sharon) Lammers; brother-in-law Carl Lewis; step brother LeRoy (Donna) Lammers; step sisters Faye Stoll and Wilma Boquist. Don was preceded in death by his parents; step father Will Lammers; sisters Irene Thompson, Corilee McClurkin and twin sister Darlene Lewis; step brother Warren Lammers; step sisters Minnie Bauer and Lucille Gilster.
