Donna V. Bjornson, 81 Kearney resident Donna V. Bjornson, 81, of Kearney, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at her home. Memorial services are planned for 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Pastor Dean Pofahl officiating. God sent his Angel’s to bring his child Donna V. Bjornson home to Heaven on February 15, 2015. She departed this earth with her loving family by her side. Donna was born November 23, 1933 in Ogden, Iowa to Donald and Valentine (Furst) Linn. She grew up in Iowa graduating from Pilot Mound High School in 1951. On December 17, 1951, Donna was united in marriage to Harold Bjornson in Pilot Mound, IA. The couple made their home in California from 1959-2004, where she worked as an office manager. In 2005, Donna and Harold moved to Kearney to be closer to family. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Donna enjoyed computers, cooking and reading recipe books. Donna’s life was centered around her family and friends, sharing a meal, a good time or just lending an ear. She enjoyed keeping track of all our lives and wanted to help us all she could. Cooking was her passion and she was a very good cook. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. We will cherish the wonderful memories we have to hold on to, and will miss her dearly. She leaves behind her husband, Harold Bjornson of Kearney; daughters, Patricia (Richard) Hoffman of Elm Creek, Judy Bjornson (Tom Parry) of West Winfield, NY; grandchildren, Casey and Erik Hoffman, Ricardo “Shorty” (Suzanne) Hoffman, Christopher and Allison Kusel; great grandchildren, Aysten Hoffman, Elani, Trenton and Anna Hoffman, Bradley Sexton and Lucas Drake. She also leaves behind several cousins, including her special cuz, Frank Furst and his family, and of course her canine companion, “Honey Bear.” Donna was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Crispin Aguirre; and son, Michael Bjornson. Donna and her family would like to give a HUGE Thank You to all of the wonderful Aseracare Team, especially, Mary, Allie, Joyce, Gail, Diedra, Melissa, Sheri, Brenda, Brandon, Mindy, Vicky, Alyssa, Lisa, Peggy, Derrick, Shelly, and Thayne, who so graciously and lovingly cared for all of us during Donna’s journey to heaven.
