Eric W. Maupin

Eric Wayne Maupin, 50 of Kearney passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, surrounded by loved ones. Eric was born December 21, 1970 in North Platte, Nebraska to Wayne and Diana (Miranda) Maupin. He grew up in Venango, Nebraska where he attended Venango High School, graduating with the class of 1989. Eric attended Kearney State College where he earned his degree in Actuarial Science and Statistics. On February 12, 1994, Eric was united in marriage to his childhood friend and high school sweetheart, Vicki McCown in Venango, NE. To this union two children were blessed. For the past 15 years he had joyfully worked with his “Intellicom family” as a purchasing manager. Eric loved Christ first, his family second, and all others third. He enjoyed playing tennis, pickle ball, and any game that could make his family laugh. He consistently and genuinely loved others before himself, as evidenced by his heavy involvement as a member of Kearney E-Free Church, an active elder, Men in Action, Children’s Ministries, and as a leader of a Lifegroup. Eric was also previously a past scout leader and had served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a lifelong Husker fan and an avid Denver Bronco’s fan. His infectious personality and calming presence will be missed by many. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki Maupin of Kearney; children, Callen (Hannah) Maupin of Minneapolis, MN and daughter Jordyn Maupin of Kearney; parents, Wayne and Diana Maupin of Venango; brother, Paul (Niesje) Maupin of Denver, CO; niece and nephew, Zoie and Jacob Maupin; extended family brother-in-laws Steve (Pam) McCown and Gary McCown; sister-in-laws Tammy Portenier, Jackie (Kelly) Tridle, and Shelly (Scott) Hoyt along with several nieces and nephews where we was known as Uncle E; friends too numerous to list. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 at Kearney E-Free Church with Pastor Adrian Boykin officiating. Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2021 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. The service will also be live streamed through the church website at www.kearneyefree.com/live Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
