Joel M. Lungrin

Joel Lungrin, A beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend along with many other cherished titles went to be with his heavenly father on May 28, 2026. Joel was born on March 2nd, 1978 to Bob and Cindy Lungrin in Kearney, NE. He went to Kearney Highschool and graduated in the class of 1996. Joel had a love for his country and felt called to serve, so he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served for 6 years on the USS George Washington. After being honorably discharged he found his passion to become a mechanic and attended the Denver trade school of Diesel and Automotive. He worked as a diesel mechanic and went on to build his own business, JNL Ag and Diesel. Joel loved to fix things, he learned his love for taking things apart and fixing them at a young age. There was absolutely nothing he could not fix. Joel met the love of his life, Nichole Ryan and they were united in marriage on June 4, 2005. Together, they built a beautiful family of 5 children, Ella, Sam, John, Max, and Taylor. Joel’s greatest pride and accomplishment was his family. He was always there to support his children and wife in everything they did. Together they loved being outdoors, going on vacations, daily family dinners, and spending quality time with each other making countless memories. He was known for his kind, servant heart and was willing to drop anything to help those in need. Joel’s hugs were the best; strong, firm, and comforting. He always had a smile on his face and an unforgettable belly laugh that filled the room with so much joy. He had such a quick wit keeping everyone around him on their toes, especially his kids. He loved telling a good, funny dad joke even though his kids didn’t always think they were funny. Most importantly, Joel was a man of God and had learned his way through Christ. He was proud to be a member of Prince of Peace Catholic church where he served and had a great church family. He will be deeply missed on earth, but there is comfort in knowing he is wrapped in the arms of Jesus and watching over his loved ones. Joel is survived by his wife, Nichole, and children, Ella, Sam, John, Max & Taylor. As well as his parents, Bob and Cindy Lungrin, brother Jeff (Brenda), and many other family members and friends. A funeral mass will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Scott Harter officiating. A rosary/prayer service will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
