Karen Clark, 71 Kearney resident Karen E. Clark, 71 of Kearney died Saturday, September 3, 2016 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Art Faesser celebrating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Center Cemetery at Haven’s Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with a vigil/prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. James Catholic Church or to Kearney Tackles Cancer. Karen was born June 17, 1945 in Kearney, NE to Lawrence and Violet (Theis) Richter. She was a 1963 graduate of Kearney High School. Karen would later earn her LPN degree. On August 12, 1967, Karen was united in marriage to Richard Clark in Kearney. She had unmatched compassion and enjoyed 28 years of employment at Richard Young Hospital. In her spare time, she loved to sew, embroider and collect Coca Cola memorabilia. Karen also enjoyed going on junks jaunts and spending time with her grandchildren. Karen was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 49 years Richard Clark; daughters Mary Peters and husband Billy and Molly Palmer and husband Wade; grandchildren Noah, Zechariah, Lily and Grace Peters, Wade Jr., and Abbygayle Palmer all of Kearney; brothers James D. Richter and wife Jean of Glenwood, IA, Jim Richter and wife Jeni of Kearney, Rick Richter and wife DeAnn of Ft. Collins, CO; sisters Patricia Reinhardt and husband Floyd of Centennial, CO and Sally Schulte of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers -in-law and sisters-in-law Eulah (Alex) Gangwish of Kearney, Evelyn (Steve) Jones of Kansas City, MO, Robert (Diana) Clark of Meansville, GA, Don (Mary) Clark of Thornton, CO and William (Terri) Clark of Kearney, as well as several nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister Linda Spellman; brother-in-law James Schulte; father in law and mother in law Earl Clark and Wanola (Bissell) Clark.
