Kathy Hunnicutt

Kathy Hunnicutt, 64 of Gibbon passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at CHI St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney, Nebraska. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Nebraska with a reception to following at the First United Methodist Church, 1302 M. Street, Franklin, NE. . Memorials are suggested to the family care of P.O. Box 712 Kearney, NE 68848. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Kathy was born January 1, 1958 in Franklin, Nebraska to Herman and Mable (Treddenbarger) Saathoff. She was raised in Franklin and received her education from Franklin High School, graduating with the class of 1976. On April 10, 1983, Kathy was united in marriage to David Hunnicutt (Whom she always called the love of her life) in Lincoln, Nebraska. Kathy and David were married for 22 years and had two children; Andrew and Ashley. They lived most of their lives together in Shelton, Nebraska. Kathy worked in housekeeping for the Ramada Inn and Holiday Inn in Kearney for several years. She was a long time employee of CHI St. Francis where she worked in laundry services until her retirement in 2018. Kathy loved to travel on cruises, enjoy renaissance fairs, traveling on small and big adventures with her family, and watching professional wrestling. Her favorite thing of all was spending time with her children and grandchildren, Family was everything to her- she especially loved the holidays and the gatherings with loved ones where she could cook and enjoy the laughter of the presence around her. Kathy is preceded in death by Her parents Herman and Mable, Brothers and sisters: Bob, John, Joan, Gerald, Herold, Richard, and Dick, her Husband David, and other extended loved ones. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Andrew and Jennifer Hunnicutt of Kearney, Ashley and Daniel Borgmann of Gibbon; her 5 grandchildren: Joseph, Timothy, Carson,Taylin, and Parker. Sister, Carolyn Sturtevant of Hastings; brother, Larry and Tammy Saathoff of Republican City; as well as nieces: Eden and John Haack of Hastings, Katie and Jason Woods of Hastings, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
