Linda L. Luhn

Linda L. Luhn, 82 of Kearney passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastors James H. DeLoach and Doug Gaunt officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church and School and Missions. Linda was born August 8, 1941 in Ada, Oklahoma to Edgar and Thelma (Fletcher) Simpson. She received her education in Ada, OK graduating with the class of 1959. After graduation she attended East Central State College in Ada, OK. Linda moved to Lincoln, NE in 1960 where she was employed by the YWCA and Yant Equipment Co. She later moved to Grand Island, NE in 1965 where she worked at the Ordinance Plant. On May 16, 1970, Linda was united in marriage to Sherman Luhn in Cairo, NE. Linda and Sherman made their home in Kearney, NE where she worked for West Company, Morris Nursery and The Solid Rock. In 1994, Linda moved to Hastings, NE and was employed by Zion Lutheran School and K-Mart, retiring in 2003. Linda moved back to Kearney in 2021. Linda was a strong woman of Faith and always lifted everything to the Lord. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Board of Evangelism, the Lutheran Laymen’s League, and the Lutheran Women’s Mission League. She was involved in multiple Bible studies and belonged to the Red Hat Society. Linda’s greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, camping, time with friends. She will be remembered for her radiant smile and personality. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Vincent “Ed” (Cindy) Luhn of Kearney; son-in-law, Robert Vos of Kearney; grandchildren, Emily Vos of Newberg, Oregon, Brittany Vos-Diaz (Sarah) of Kearney, Nathan (Laura) Luhn of Grand Island, Nicholas (Sierra) Luhn of Aurora; 6 great grandchildren; special friends, Mary Alice Hyden of Broken Arrow, OK, Carolyn Westman and Karen Baye of Kearney; as well as many extended family and friends. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman; daughter, Kimberly Vos; brother, Don Simpson; sister, Karen Nickson.
