Linda Rae Tyrrell

Linda R. Tyrrell, 68 Kearney resident Linda R. Tyrrell, 68, of Kearney, died Wednesday, May 06, 2015 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Kearney Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Brian Klein officiating. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Phillipsburg, KS. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney E-Free Church or to Heartland Hematology and Oncology. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Linda Rae (Patterson) Tyrrell was born October 4, 1946 in Norton, Kansas to Cloyd and Doris (Young) Patterson. She was raised in Long Island, Kansas and attended Long Island public schools, graduating in 1964. Her first job was working at the Long Island Café. She later worked at Ben Franklin in Alma, NE, Phillips County Treasurers Office in Phillipsburg, KS and the Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company in Phillipsburg, KS. On November 11, 1966, Linda was united in marriage to Delmer Hansen at the Long Island Methodist Church. To This union four children were blessed; Anthony James, Randy Dale, Debra Kay and Danny Joe. Their family lived in several places including, Phillipsburg, KS, Kirwin, KS, and Cawker City, KS due to her husband’s employment. In 1968, they moved to Holdrege,NE , and then they lived in Funk, NE and in 1971 the couple moved to Wilcox, NE. Linda worked for Becton-Dickinson for 3 years, Artisitic Woven Labels for 5 1/2 years and again at Becton-Dickinson for 27 1/2 years until retirement in 2006. She was a member of Community Church in Wilcox and the Wilcox Division of Women's Chamber of Commerce. Linda moved to Holdrege in 1995. On April 15, 1998, she was united in marriage to William Charles Tyrrell at the Old Scandinavian Church at the Phelps County museum grounds in Holdrege. The couple continued to make their home in Holdrege in the company of family and friends. Linda and Bill had two years and nine months of married life together until his death in January 2001. Linda enjoyed many years of watching her children grow. She supported their school events and all their sporting activities. She enjoyed teaching the little ones about Jesus during Sunday School at Wilcox Community Church for almost 20 years. She also enjoyed working in the yard, crocheting, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. After retiring in May 2006, Linda moved to Kearney. She worked for Kearney Public Schools and Little Shephards Kidz Place Daycare from 2007-2015. She enjoyed spending her days with the little boys and girls. She also enjoyed her new church family at E-Free Church in Kearney and her community Bible group who met every week and were special friends to her. She always enjoyed meeting new friends. Survivors include three sons, Tony Hansen and his wife Shelly of Lexington, NE, and their children Michael and Amanda, Randy Hansen of Holdrege, NE, and his children Karissa and Terrance, and Danny Hansen of Kearney, NE and his son Lucas; daughter, Debra Crookshank and her husband Dan of Kearney, NE, and their children Tyler, Brett and Melissa, and step-daughter Trisa Mcdonnold of Dayton, TX and her children Timothy and Cheyenne; great grandchildren, Elijah and Chandler; brother, Robert Earl Patterson and friend Debra Ebson of Republican City, NE; sisters, Sharon Davis of Hastings, NE, Patricia Troyer and her husband Russ of Holdrege, NE, and Luetta Harrison and her husband David of Littleton, CO; brother-in-laws, Rich Tyrrell of Norton, KS, Ron Tyrrell and his wife Dolly of WaKeeney, KS, Tom Tyrrell and his wife Neila of Norton, KS; sister-in-laws, Roberta Lively and her husband Ed of Phillipsburg, KS, and Ruth Lucidi of Palm Harbor, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Tyrrell; step-sons, Timothy Tyrrell and Eric Tyrrell; parents, Cloyd and Doris Patterson; brother-in-laws, Don Davis, Donald Tyrrell, Robert Tyrrell and Dennis Minshall; sister-in-law, Rita Minshall.
