Lloyd D. "Wag" Wagnitz, 82, Kearney, died Friday October 15, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 19 at Faith United Church in Gibbon with Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Interment with military rites by the Nebraska National Guard Honors Team in conjunction with American Legion Post 310 will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Monday at the church and continue one hour prior to services. Memorials will be established by the family. He was born November 28, 1927 in Hurdsfield, ND to William and Martha (Brodehl) Wagnitz. He grew up in Hurdsfield and received his education at a country school there. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and served until 1954 during the Korean War. On September 30, 1956, he married Cherie Livingston in Gibbon. They lived in Eustis, where he was employed by Monroe Auto Equipment. They also lived in Minden and Cozad, where he was employed by Miller the Driller and Francis Schneider. He was a member of the Eustis United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working in the yard, wood crafts, working with his hands, flowers, farm life, country music and playing the social security board game. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Cherie of Kearney; sons, Lloyd W. Wagnitz and wife Susan of Grand Island and Keith B. Wagnitz and wife Kayla of Brady; daughters, Cynthia Wolf and husband Mike of Eustis and Janell Welborn and husband Larry of Omaha; grandchildren, Sara Rohren and husband Cory, Rachel Wagnitz and fiance, Chase Burgess, Matthew Wagnitz, Cassandra Wolf, Michael and Melissa Welborn, Keith R. Wagnitz and fiance Ashley Schelling, and Kevin, Brittanie, Brian, Robert, Annabell, Samaantha, Cherakey and Mavrik Wagnitz; great-grandchildren, Katrina Wolf, Emily Robinson, Ethan, Aidan, Braxton, and Ray-Lynn Wagnitz and Chyanne Hernandez, Corey Bunger; sister, Rosella Rask of Minden; and aunt Helen Roach of Norton, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Lena Wagnitz; and brothers-in-law, Milton Rask and George W. Livingston and father and mother-in-law, George G. and Viola Livingston.
