Nick V. Longly, 62 of Kearney died Sunday Oct. 23, 2011 at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. A memorial mass will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 27th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. The Rev. Mike McDonald will officiate. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Rob Morris Lodge #46 A.F. & A.M. of Kearney. A vigil will be held 7:00 PM, Wednesday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the Masonic Home in Fremont and the St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. On-line condolences may be submitted to www.osrfh.com. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. Nick was born January 7, 1949 in Lexington to Ronald and Mona (Bauer) Longly. He graduated from St Ann's High School in Lexington in 1967. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from UNK. He was married to Claire (Harris) Schott in Las Vegas, NV on September 2, 1996. He and Claire have owned and operated the Lodge Restaurant in Kearney for several years. In September 1997 he was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in Rob Morris Lodge #46 of the AF and AM. He became a member of the Hastings Valley of Scottish Rite December 13, 1997. On December 5, 2005, he received his Knights Commander Court of Honor Red Cap. On December 5, 2009, he received the Coronation of White Cap as a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was initiated into Tehama Shrine on December 13, 1997. In 2007 he was appointed to the Shrine Soccer Committee and served as chairman for the Shrine Soccer Classic in Nebraska for 10 years.. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Kearney Elk's logde #984. He enjoyed travel, golfing and fishing. Survivors include his wife of Kearney; step-sons, Geremy Schott and wife Joy of Burwell, and Travis Schott and special friend, Angie Werkmiester of Kearney; step-daughters, Megan Dubas and husband Eric of Fullerton and Brandy Hughes and husband Rustin of Kearney; parents, Ron and Mona of Lexington; brothers, Jim Longly and wife Pat of Lexington and Tom Longly of Lexington; sisters, Sharon Jorgenson and husband Terry of Lexington and Deb Berggren and husband Ryan of Stromsburg; and grandchildren, Gavyn and Jenna Schott, Keila and Reese Dubas and Katie Werkmiester.
