Paul E. Frink, 85, of Kearney died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 11, 2014 at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Gibbon with the Reverend Cathy Cole officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon with military honors conducted by the Navy Honors Team in conjunction with the American Legion Post 310, and VFW Post . Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney. Paul was born September 22, 1928 in Gibbon, NE to Willard and Pauline (Arbuckle) Frink in Gibbon. He was raised by his grandparents David and Stella Arbuckle, and his Aunt Eva and Uncle Adolph Brandt. He entered the Navy on April 12, 1949; he served in the Philippines, served on the USS Bushnell, USS Truckee, and the USS Luiseno. During the Vietnam War he served on the USS Ponchatoula. After the Vietnam War he served on the USS Dewey and the USS Lowry. Then he was granted shore duty and appointed to Master Chief Petty Officer over the Command, Assault craft, Unit 2, Little Creek Amphibious Base. He was united into marriage to Anna M. "Cynthia" Conway on August 26, 1952 in Key West, Florida. They lived in many places over his military career. After his retirement in 1972 they moved to Gibbon. He worked at Schuster Impliment until he retired. After Cythina passed away in 2007, he married Nora "Darlene" Lewis in 2008. He was member of the American Legion Post 310; he enjoyed wood working, playing cards, traveling to casinos, spending time with family and the 'Little Shavers'. He is survived by his son; David Frink and wife Wanda of Kearney; daughters, Pamela Miska and husband Wendell of Kearney, Paula Keller and husband Keith of Norfolk, VA; stepsons, Michael Lewis, Anthony Lewis and David Lewis all of Kearney, step daughters, Teresa Poore of Kearney, Tammie Wuehler and husband Gary of Kearney; He is survived by his sister Twyla O'Brien of Kearney; grandchildren, Matthew Frink of Virginia Beach, VA, Elizabeth Lauren Frink of Norfolk, VA, Holly Anway of Kearney, Heather Smallcomb of Gibbon, Brian Miska of Kearney, Kathleen Keller of Virgina Beach, VA, Klaire Keller of Norfolk, VA, Kandyce Keller of Norfolk, VA, Darci Williams of Odessa, NE, Christine Allen of Kearney, Natalie Hanna of Kearney; great grandchildren, Alec, Hunter and MaKenna Smallcomb of Gibbon, Madison Frink of Kearney, Kaitlyn and Ethan Williams of Odessa, Emma and Ella Allen of Kearney; Drew, Bailey, Wyatt, Caden of Kearney; Ashely Anway of Kearney; great great grandchildren, Destiny and Milani Anway fo Kearney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents, both wives; son, John Frink; and grandson Heith Frink.
