Robert DeTurk, 89 Kearney resident Robert (Bob) A. DeTurk 89 of Kearney passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney. Due to requirements from the Federal Government regarding the recent virus outbreak, funeral services for family only will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. Rev. John Rasmussen will officiate. The public is invited to view the service through the Holy Cross Lutheran Church website https://holycrosskearney.org/livestream/. Interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Amherst. The family will also hold a private viewing Monday, March 23, 2020 but encourage everyone to leave a message of condolence through the funeral home website at www.osrfh.com or send cards/memorials to the family care of O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home, 4115 Ave N, Kearney, NE 68847. Honorary pallbears are grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to Mission Central (Gary Thies) and Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Bob was born in 1930 in Shelby to David DeTurk and Blanche (Riblett) DeTurk. He grew up and attended school in Shelby. Bob entered the Airforce serving from 1948-1952. After serving in the Airforce Bob married Cherie’ L. Rathjen in 1953. Bob and Cherie’ moved from David City to Amherst in 1956 farming east of town till they retired from farming in 1975. Bob then worked at Eaton in Kearney untill he retired in 1993. After retirement Bob and Cherie’ worked for Labors for Christ for numerous years along with spending time building wooden barns, cars, and toys for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife Cherie’ of 67 years. Children, Michele DeTurk of Odessa, Steven (Deanne) DeTurk of Amherst, and Marche’ (Doug) DeTurk Epley of Pleasanton. Grandchildren Dana Klingelhoefer, Daniel (Jen) Klingelhoefer, Craig Klingelhoefer, Stephanie DeTurk, Tanis (Joshua) DeTurk Saldivar, Brooke (Stephen) DeTurk Janning, Lacey (Daniel) DeTurk Schroeder, Jared (Kaylinda) DeTurk, Rachele (Eric) Epley Quinones, Sarah (Michael) Epp Seele, Aaron (Laurissa) Epley, Ross (Michelle) Epley, and Paul Epley. Great grandchildren (Michele DeTurk family) Javin, Kyler, Tayber, Zach, Brandon, (Steve DeTurk family) Wyatt, Isabel, Camila, Kaison, George, Lincoln, Kage, Raleigh, Lawson, Lennuxe, & Lexlun, (Marche’ Epley family) Tia, Morgan, Katie, Tyler, MaKenzie, Madilynn, MaKayla, Mason, Maddox, Emmett, Waylon, Bonnie, Connes, Tobias, and Vincent. One sister Lorene Sorrentino of Connecticut. Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne, Gene, Malyn, Darwin, and sister Mardell, several greatgrandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
