Ronald M. Streeter

Ronald M. Streeter Sr, 76 of Kearney passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Grand Island VA Hospital. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Military honors will be provided by the Kearney VFW Post #759 and American Legion Post #52 in conjunction with the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team. Ron was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Ron was born July 16, 1948 in Ogdensburg, New York to Frank and Marie (Glidden) Streeter. Much of his early life was spent raising horses, and traveling around upstate New York as a cowboy. He was often considered a nomad by those who knew him. Ron worked various jobs throughout his life; he was employed as a Pen Rider at the Research Center in Clay Center when he first moved to Nebraska in 1981. He then moved to Montana and broke mule for several years. In February of 1992, he brought his family back to Nebraska and worked for the University of Nebraska at Kearney as the Facilities Manager until he retired in 2004. Ron would often be found with a Louis L’amore book in his hands, or playing video games with his grandkids. He had a passion for cars, and had also spent some of his earlier years as an automotive painter. Most of all, he loved country music and playing guitar. He was deeply adored by his children and grandchildren, who loved to hear him sing. He enjoyed being outdoors and playing KanJam and horseshoes with friends and family. For the last several years of his life, he lived with and was cared for by his daughter, Angela. Survivors include his children, Rhonda Woodside, Tina Pearson, Ronald Mark Streeter Jr and wife, Amber, Randall Streeter, Angela Streeter and fiance, Beau Follmer, Jessie (Dave) Griss; grandchildren, Sierra Streeter, Chelsea (Andrew) LeBeau, Brittany Streeter and husband, Noel Robinson, Calley, Brooke and Dylan McIlnay, Franklin and Zachary Streeter, Logan Griss; great grandchildren, Payton LeBeau, Lincoln Ronald; sister, Kimberly Rasbeck; goddaughter, Rhiannon McCollum; as well as, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Jack Holland, and Michael Streeter.
