Sharon L. Anderson

Sharon L. Anderson, 75 of Lincoln and formerly of Kearney, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Monarch House in Lincoln. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 28, 2017 at Kearney E-Free Church. Pastor Brian Klein and Pastor John Fowler will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at Kearney Cemetery. There will be no visitation. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney E-Free Church. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Sharon Lee Brothers was born on April 10, 1942 in Kimball, Nebraska to Floyd W. and Hilda V. (Pieron) Brothers. She grew up in Dix, Nebraska and graduated from Dix High School in 1959. She then attended college in Colorado before returning to Dix where she worked as a dental hygienist. She was united in marriage to Ralph R. Anderson on September 20, 1970 in Dix. The couple made their home in Dix until moving to Genoa in 1974 and then Kearney in 1984. When their youngest child began kindergarten Sharon began working as a cook at Stone Elementary. She retired from the school after nearly 20 years. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death on August 30, 2016. Sharon was a member of Kearney E-Free Church where she was active in Sonrise Bible Study. Throughout her life faith has been steadfast and true. Even while both she and Ralph battled cancer, Sharon kept faith and trust in God’s plan, knowing that Christ would renew her body. She lived life with a servant heart and loved God and all of God’s people. In retirement Sharon was active with the international students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She loved helping in any way possible to make these students feel safe and at home in Kearney. Sharon was a wonderful cook and always looked forward to making holiday gatherings special. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Debra Gloates and husband Steve of Pennsylvania and Megan Blazek and husband Nathan of Lincoln; a daughter-in-law, DeAnne Anderson of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Cory Anderson, Briana Bartek and husband Nate, Joshua, Rachel, Ruth and Rebekah Gloates, and Madelyn, Presley and Rowan Blazek; four sisters-in-law, Sharon Brothers of Wyoming; Nancy Obermeyer of Milford, Harriet Maser and husband David of Sutton and Gail Fischer and husband Chris of California; a brother -in-law, Ike Anderson and wife Dorothy of Genoa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Scott Anderson; a grandson, Zachary Scott Anderson; a brother, Wes Brothers; and a sister Kathryn Killham.
