Terrence L. Mortensen

Terrence L. Mortensen, 73 of Cheyenne, WY passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY. A family service and burial will be in Guide Rock, Nebraska cemetery next spring 2022! Memorial are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Terrence Lee Mortensen was born July 22, 1948 in Kearney, Nebraska to George V. and Deloris Mae (Smith) Mortensen. He attended Country School by his home until going to Gibbon High School and graduating with the class of 1966. Immediately after graduating he joined the US Navy. He reached the rank of Seaman 3rd class but in 1971 he became disabled by a speeding car that ran a red light.... while stationed in San Diego CA. After weeks in the hospital, he was honorably discharged and he returned to the Gibbon and Shelton area where he attended Central Nebraska Community College in Hastings NE to be trained as a tv repairman for several small shops in Kearney NE. (Straatmann TV and Comstock TV). He also loved working part time at Cabela’s call center (Nolan Ryan was one of his favorite calls). On June 2, 1973 he married Deb (Pritts) Mortensen in Shelton... to this union four children were born (Matt 1974, Jennifer 1976, Michelle 1977 and Nick in 1981). They lived in Shelton and Ravenna until time for Matt to start kindergarten. The couple bought a home in Gibbon and settled there until all four had graduated from Gibbon High School. In 2006 as all four children are now married, having babies, working and/or attending college etc the couple moved to Griffin GA to be near Terry’s dad (George) and sister Diana (Mortensen) Clark and their families. In 2014 the couple left Georgia and moved to Cheyenne, WY. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deb Mortensen of Cheyenne WY; son, Matt (Angela) Mortensen of Kearney NE, daughter, Jennifer (Martin) Cox of Kearney NE, daughter, Michelle (Patrick) Pearson of Cheyenne, WY and son, Nick (Arlene) Mortensen of Kearney NE; 12 Grand Children and 1 Great Grandchild. Terry’s sister, Diana in Forsyth GA, Terry’s brother, Steve (Regina) in Atlanta, KS and Terry’s sister, Layne (Alan) Rose in Spokane, MO; and many nieces and nephews and cousins and aunts and uncles and in laws. Preceding him in death are his parents, George and Deloris Mortensen, his parents in law, Duane and Sharon Pritts from Kearney NE and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws etc.
