Vesta Mae Taylor

Vesta Mae (Wondercheck) Taylor, 95, of Papillion, passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on November 10, 2017 at Hillcrest Shadowlake Care Center, Papillion, NE. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Vesta was born September 2, 1922 on a farm in Holt County Nebraska, the fourth of ten children of Frank and Huldah (Davis)Wondercheck She married the love of her life, Richard L. Taylor on April 5, 1944, in Valentine, NE. To this union 2 sons and 2 daughters were born. She loved her children, and grandchildren, and adored her great grandchildren. Vesta was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Vesta received Christ as her Savior at the age of 22 and remained faithful to her Lord until her death. Attending church was a very vital part of her life. She loved Gospel Music; and had a song for every situation. She enjoyed working in the garden, and would rather be outside than inside. However, the highlight of her day was to prepare meals for a crowd, always wanting everyone to eat together. Vesta was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She and Richard were always looking for ways to help both family and friends. She believed that God had blessed her with each day to enjoy and live for Him. She will be greatly missed, but her family knows that she is rejoicing in the presence of her Lord, the One she longed to see the most. Vesta’s survivors include her children, Richard (Rick) of Axtell, NE, Darlene (David) Gourley of Houston, MO, and Paula Sowl of Papillion, NE, grandchildren, Chelae(Collins) Williams, Freeport, Bahamas, Elizabeth (Brandon) Rodenburg, Ewing, NJ, Owen Taylor, Sandy, UT, Samuel Sowl, LaVista, NE and Lance Taylor, Axtell, NE, also, 6 great grandchildren, Cameron, Chase, Ciara, and Cedrick Williams, Keshawn and Diamond Poitier of Freeport, Bahamas Also surviving are sisters LoRee Mott, Neligh, NE, Bessie Gallino, Crookston, NE, Rita Waldorf, Devils Lake, ND, Nancy Garringer, Kearney, NE and Joy Wertz, Kimball, NE and many nieces and nephews. Vesta is preceded in death by her loving husband, infant son Charles Frank, son-in-law David Sowl, her parents and three sisters, Beulah Johnson, Viola Jackson, Wilma Francis, one brother Oscar (Bud) Wondercheck, and several nieces and nephews.
