Elroy R. Lierman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elroy Lierman, 85 of Kearney passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Pastor Ron Lauber officiating. Interment will follow at Overton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Summit Church. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Elroy was born July 16, 1936 in Gothenburg, NE to Raymond and Mae (Earll) Lierman. He was raised around Curtis, Nebraska and later graduated from Cozad High School in 1953. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College and later taught at St. Paul High School. Elroy entered into the U.S. Air Force on October 1, 1956 and proudly served until his honorable discharge on October 1, 1960. He was united in marriage to Barbara Heath on July 5, 1964. Elroy worked as a janitor for several businesses including, Kearney Catholic High School, Brown’s Quality Food, Cashway. Elroy later married Phyllis Whitechat on March 10, 1991. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sue (Curt) Moore of Central City; son, Michael (Angela) Lierman of Kearney; step-daughter, Teresa (Wayne) Haines of Toccoa, GA; grandchildren, Samuel Moore, Addison Moore, Alisha (Turner) Lee, Michaela (David) Blackmon, Mallory (Treavor) English, Bailey Lierman, Cooper Lierman and Conner Lierman; great grandchildren, Noah, Ava, Ethan, Zion and Ruby Jane Lee, Landon, Asher, Cohen and Izabella Blackmon, Gavin and Evalyn English; brother-in-law, Robert Steveson of Denver, CO; longtime family friend and caregiver, Deb Hall of Kearney; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Elroy was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Barbara and second wife, Phyllis; infant son, Orin; sister, Karen Steveson.
