Jack G. Brown Sweetwater Resident Jack G. Brown, 82, of Sweetwater passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. Pastor Micah Gaunt will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Sweetwater Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #0332 and the VFW Post #2058 in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard Honors Team. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Ravenna Fire Department. Jackie Gene Brown was born on October 7, 1936 in rural Pleasanton, Nebraska to Joe F. and Vida May (Slocum) Brown. He was raised in the Sweetwater and Pleasanton area, and received his education from Ravenna High School graduating with the class of 1953. Following graduation, he farmed, drove truck and served in the Air National Guard. Jack was united in marriage to Karen Reinertson on October 2, 1976 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney and to this union two children were born: John and Jessica. Jack owned and operated Brown Trucking and worked many years as a heavy equipment operator. He obtained his private pilot’s license, enjoyed repairing antique International and John Deere tractors and participating in and attending tractor pulls. Jack was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna, Ravenna Tractor Pullers and Antique Farming Association. He never knew a stranger and he cherished the relationships that he formed through his work and community activities. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen Brown of Sweetwater; son, John Brown of Ravenna; daughter, Jessica Weltmer and her husband, Philip of Smith Center, KS; grandchildren, Kaden, Korey and Kaylee Weltmer; brother, Darrell Brown and his wife, Kris of Hazard; along with other relatives and many friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
