Jacqueline Frank Strickland Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jacqueline Frank Strickland, 94 of Sunnyvale, TX passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Medical City Hospital in Plano, TX. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Kearney Cemetery with Rev. Mother Stephanie Swinnea officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Jacqueline Frank Strickland was born February 8, 1926 in Kearney, NE to Lloyd and Nina (Keil) Frank. She grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School. She married William Strickland, of Oklahoma City, in 1945. She attended college at Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, and received her bachelor’s degree and teacher’s certificate. She taught at St. Thomas Episcopal School in Houston, TX for over 20 years. Jacqueline was an active member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Rockwall, TX Chapter where she served as past Regent; an active member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century; an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and was also a member of Daughters of 1812 and National Society Descendents of Early Quakers. Jacqueline enjoyed genealogy, duplicate bridge, traveling and visiting her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Virginia) Strickland of Cincinnati, OH, Phillip (Sue) Strickland of San Antonio, TX, Pamela (A. David) Merkin of Sunnyvale, TX; 6 grandchildren, Andrew (Christine) Strickland, Dorothy (John) Flesta ,Keil (Tiffany) Strickland, William Merkin, Robert (Wendy) Merkin, Rebecca Merkin; 8 great grandsons, Nathan Strickland, Benjamin A. Strickland, Connor Flesta, Carter Strickland, William Strickland, Benjamin G. Strickland, Ryan Merkin and Luke Merkin; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Strickland; older sister, LaDonna Doughty; and younger infant sister, Lloydene Frank.
