Margaret O. Mason, 88 Kearney resident Margaret Mason, 88, of Kearney, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Kearney with the Rev. Stan Murdoch and Rev. Sean Dougherty officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church building fund. Condolences or personal reflections may be submitted at www.osrfh.com. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Margaret Olive Mason was born October 20, 1925 in Glenvil, Nebraska to Ira and Kathryn (Kamm) Hunnicutt. She received her education from Glenvil High School graduating in 1943. Margaret was united in marriage to Donald Lee Mason on October 3, 1954 in Glenvil, Nebraska. The couple lived in North Platte before moving to Glenvil in 1959. Margaret and Don farmed in Glenvil until 1978. In 1980, the couple moved to Hastings before moving to Kearney in 1994. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kearney, where she was active in American Baptist Women's Ministries (ABWM) and Dorcas circle. She was a member of the Friend's Sunday School Class. She was the church pianist at the Glenvil First Baptist Church for many years and taught Sunday School. She also played piano on Wednesday night church service at First Baptist Church in Kearney. Margaret was a Christian woman who accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. She was baptized in Believer's baptism as a young girl. She was an encourager to church family by sending cards and keeping them in her prayers. Family and faith were her two greatest joys. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Survivors include her son, Dean of Glenvil; daughters, Elaine Mason of Arlington, Texas, Lois Dauel and husband, Dan of Kearney, and Kris Hughbanks and husband, Tim of Kearney; seven grandchildren, Justin Dauel and wife, Heather, Adam Dauel, Melissa Dauel, Brandon Verzal, Nathan Verzal, Jessica Abbott and husband, AJ and Courtney Hughbanks; four great grandchildren, Zachary, Rebekah and Michael Dauel and Isaac Verzal; several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2012. She was also preceded by her parents; sister, Kathryn Hunnicutt and brother, John Hunnicutt.
