Renae Vasquez Mapes, 59 of Kearney passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Father Joe Hannappel officiating. Renae was born August 2, 1962 in Kearney to Gilbert and Sally (Rodriguez) Vasquez. She grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School. She worked at the Buckle Warehouse for several years. She lived in Colorado where she admired the mountains. She enjoyed camping, hiking, visiting Estes Park and searching for bears in Rocky Mountain National Park. Later she moved back to Kearney. She took pride in caring for all her plants. Renae loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kylie Epp (Adam Quintana) of Kearney, Kayla Mapes (Garret Heitman) of Houghton, New York, and Korie Mapes (Shawn Frye) of Nunn, Colorado; six grandchildren, Marley, Aralin, Mila, Maxwell, Knox, Daemyn; granddaughter on the way; mother, Sally Vasquez of Kearney; brothers, Ruben Vasquez of Laramie, Wyoming, Rick Vasquez, Ronnie Vasquez of Kearney, and Rusty (Gwen) Vasquez of Kearney; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Vasquez; twin sister, Rhonda Vasquez; grandparents, Phillip and Margaret Rodriguez and Frank and Isabel Vasquez; an aunt; several uncles and cousins.
