Robert Slocum, 82 Kearney resident Robert Slocum, 82, of Kearney, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at his home. A memorial service will be held 9:30 am Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Kearney. Pastor Sean Dougherty will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the Kearney Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney First Baptist Church. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Robert was born December 7, 1936 in Grant, NE to John C. and Golda (John) Price. Following the death of his mother, Bob was raised by Ed and Eliza Slocum of rural Loup City. He was a 1955 graduate of Loup City High School. In 1955, Bob married Yvonne Carpenter in Loup City. To this union four children were blessed; Roberta, Cynthia, Brad and Kevin. The couple later divorced. Bob owned and operated Texaco and Phillip 66 service stations in Kearney for several years. He later owned and operated a 7-11 store in Lander, WY. On January 20, 1984, Bob was united in marriage to Nancy (Lucas) Minard in Rawlins, WY. The couple moved back to Kearney in 1986 where Bob was self-employed as a contractor. Bob enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy of Kearney; children, Roberta McKennon and husband, Kevin of Lompoc, CA, Cynthia Krask and husband, Paul of San Diego, CA and Brad Slocum and wife, Deborah of Gretna; grandchildren, Chris, Michael and Sean Jamison, Melissa and Brandon Slocum, Taylor and Emily Krask; great grandchildren, Lucas and Miles Jamison; brothers-in-law, Don Lucas and wife, Kay of North Platte and Mike Lucas and wife, Beth of York; sister-in-law, Mary Gugle and husband, Terry of Ansdale, KS; along with many other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his biological parents and his adopted parents; son, Kevin Slocum; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
