Betty Killion

Betty E. Killion, 90 of Kearney passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Living Faith Fellowship Church in Kearney with Pastor Paul Stachura officiating. Burial will be prior to the services at 10:00 a.m. at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Christian School in Central City, NE or to Living Faith Fellowship Church in Kearney. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Betty Etoile Gee was born October 17, 1933 in Palmer, Nebraska to Truman Alvah Gee and Etoile (Colborn) Gee. She graduated from Palmer in 1951. Then she went to Omaha to a two-year secretarial school which she completed in one year. On October 19, 1952 she married Dwayne Killion. They lived in Palmer for 15 years where Betty worked at home raising four sons then later together with Dwayne was owner of Killion Self Service Variety and Café. In 1967 Betty and Dwayne moved the family to Kearney. Betty still a homemaker also worked many years for H & R Block Income Tax Services. She was also part owner (later on) and a great support system for the family-owned car dealership, Killion Motors, which they owned and operated from 1979-2014. Betty was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Palmer and then Kearney until joining Living Faith Fellowship when the congregations merged in 2014. She loved to host many friends and family gatherings over the years. She and Dwayne also enjoyed traveling in retirement. Betty had many health issues through her life, but always kept a positive attitude. Over the last years, she enjoyed visiting with many great friends and great caregivers she had. Left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Laverne and wife, LeAnne, Loren and wife, Maggy, both of Kearney, Galen and wife, Deb of Plum Creek, and Gilbert of Central City; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; younger sister, Suzanne Schmaljohn; sister-in-law, Darlene Gee; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne; her parents; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and twin great grandsons.
