Beverly Taylor

Beverly A. Taylor, 81, of Kearney, died at her residence on March 6, 2012. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, March 9, 2012 at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Revered Ivan E. Greuter officiating. Private interment will be in the Greenfield Cemetery in Greenfield, Iowa at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association. Beverly Ann Taylor was born June 27, 1930 in Greenfield, Iowa, the daughter of Elizabeth Rose Templeman, and John Menard Lorenz. In 1949, she was married to Galen Ivan Gilbert. On October 17, 1970, she married her lifelong love, Marvin Raymond Taylor in Kearney. They spent many years together raising children, grandchildren, hogs and cattle. She was the loving mother of Connie Elizabeth (Ray) Vicker Franz of Aurora, Oregon; Gale Ann (George) Jennings in Aurora, Oregon; John Earl (Geil) Gilbert of Amherst, Ne.; and Jacquelin Ellen (Lawrence) Fletcher of Kearney. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1948. She attended Americana Beauty School. During the Vietnam conflict, Beverly served her nation as a single mother at the Grand Island Armory Depot. Later, she managed the Producers Platte Valley Livestock Association café. She also worked for several years as a server in local social establishments before retiring as a full-time grandmother. She was baptized into the Christian faith at the Faith United Methodist Church of Kearney. Her life was dedicated to her family and she was happiest when surrounded by friends and family during holidays. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering, handmade crafts, playing pickle cards, cheating at cards, and awesome cooking ?" sauerkraut casserole, pies, and fried chicken. She collected pig figures. Survivors include her husband, sister Roberta Mae Leder of Braddenton, Fl., two sister-in-laws Marlene Taylor of Arlington Va., and Marian Taylor of Woodside, Ca.; 11 grandchildren: Ronda Janel Vicker, Richard Jason (Kristine) Vicker, Justin Matthew (Stacia) Zimmerman, Nicole Dawn (Antinasio) Orta, Quentin Joseph (Stancie) Zimmerman; Melissa Gutierrez, Carrie Lee (Derrick) Incott; Clifton Eugene (Angela) Greuter, Ivan Ervin (Rexanne) Greuter, Travis John Greuter, Trever Steven Greuter; twenty-eight great-grand-children, and friend Diane Fischer. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, a brother at birth, three grandsons: Heath John Zimmerman, Trent Raymond Zimmerman, and Kirk Eugene Greuter; and great-grand-daughter Samantha Marie Zimmerman -Orta. .
