Bradyn J. Hinkle

Bradyn J. Hinkle, an inspiration to special needs children and parents across the state, died peacefully Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home in Kearney, Nebr. He was 20. Born on Easter Day on March 30, 1997, to Rob and Jera (Lund) Hinkle, he was a Graduate of the Early Development Network (serving young children birth to three), attended Kearney Public School, and was a 2015 graduate of Kearney High School. He was also a student in the KHS Life Skills Class. Bradyn and his family were passionate about inclusion and active in the Arc of Buffalo County, Kearney Little League Challenger Baseball Program and TOPSoccer. He was a Make-A-Wish kid, an inspiration for the Inclusive Playground at Harmon Park, and was recently invited to attend the Disability Pride Day celebration at the State Capitol to advocate for special needs causes. Bradyn had many friends with special needs across the state including his “Sand Bed Buddies” of Children’s Hospital. He will be remembered for his smile, laugh and expressive eyes. He loved super heroes, spending time with his family, taking walks in the neighborhood with his special caregivers Bobbi and Charlene. He loved the sounds of his siblings’ voices, crinkled paper, baby giggles, fish kisses, and whistling. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney with Reverends Rick and Michelle Carlson officiating. Interment will be at the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home, and one hour before the funeral service. Left to cherish his memory are his parents; brother Brian (Ashton) Hinkle of Omaha; sister Betsi Hinkle of Grand Island and her friend Trevor Morris of Lincoln; aunts and uncles Jina (Albin) Bosak of Fort Worth, TX, Jill (Brent) Krumbach of Omaha, Dennis (Betty) Hinkle of Silver Creek, Darlene Booker of Silver Creek, Janelle (David) Udey of Osceola; grandparents John and Sandra Lund of Monroe, and Mabel Hinkle of Silver Creek; several cousins, and his brother and sister-in-law’s therapy dog and best friend Rex. He was blessed with special caregivers Debbie Ridder, Nancy Goodban, Charlene Weber and Bobbi Runge, who became family. Bradyn was preceded in death by his grandfather Gilbert Hinkle.
