Hugo Larson

Hugo P. Larson, 79 of Kearney died Monday,September 19, 2011 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kearney. The Rev. Kurt Schaser will officiate. Private burial will be held prior to service time at the Kearney Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at graveside by the Marines Honor Guard assisted by the VFW Post 759 and the American Legion Post 52 of Kearney. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Friday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church or to Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Pallbearers will be Preston Larson, Steve Baye, Joseph Baye, Matthew Baye, Kevin Bachman, Jacob Bachman and Al Synovec. Hugo Philip Larson was born on March 7th, 1932 to Hugo and Josephine (Rahn) Larson at Pierre, South Dakota. He attended high school in Parker, SD and received his GED at Parker. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps on August 23rd, 1949 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 28, 1952. He married Ann Marie Potas on December 25, 1953. The couple lived in Huron, SD and then moved to Watertown in 1959. Hugo worked for Northwestern Bell and US West Telephone Company and retired in 1992. He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed Amateur Radio, Rocks and Gems, Piano Tuning, Storm Chasing, and working for Laborers for Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, James and Steve Larson. He is survived by one son, Philip Larson and wife Connie of Broken Bow, NE; two daughters, Julie Bachman and husband Kevin of Lincoln, Ne, and Karen Baye and husband Steve of Kearney, NE; two brothers, Vincent Larson and wife Linda of Carlton, OR, and John Larson and wife Shirley of Beaverton, OR; five sisters, Ingrid Sherman and husband Wayne of Hood River, OR, Naomi Conrad and husband Richard of Wilmot, SD, Josephine Coolidge and husband Carl of Klickatat, WA, and Grace Gustafson and husband Bill of Eagle Creek, OR, and Angela Settle of Belleuve, WA; seven grandchildren; Michelle Larson, Preston Larson, April Sackschewsky and husband Phillip, Jasmine Larson, Jacob Bachman and wife Jolynn, Joseph Baye and Matthew Baye; two great grandchildren, Johnathan Sackschewsky and newborn James Sackschewsky and two sisters-in-law, Donna Larson of Hood River, OR and, Eleanor Nold of Parker, SD; one brother -in-law Lester Potas and wife Rita of Benson, MN., and numerous nieces and nephews.
