Jacqueline “Jackie” K. Wiester 75, of Kearney died Saturday Oct 7th, 2017 at her residence surrounded by loved ones. Memorial services will be held Friday Oct 13th at 10:30 AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Kearney with a reception following. The Rev. Mother Stephanie Swinnea will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Kearney Cemetery at 2:00 PM. A gathering of friends and family will take place at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday evening October 12th. Jacqueline “Jackie” Kay Wiester was born October 1, 1942 in Kearney to Joyce and Ardis (Ingram) Anderson. She grew up in Kearney and was in the last graduating class from the old Longfellow building in 1960. She attended Kearney State College. Jackie was married to Robert G. Wiester in Kearney on August 11, 1961. They had one son Michael who now lives in Columbus, NE. Jackie was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Kearney and held many positions… Treasurer of the Church, Director of the Altar Guild, Nearly New shop, was a teller and Acolyte. She worked at Anderson Brothers Plumbing & Heating Co., Task Lighting Corp., Holmes Plumbing & Heating and Valley Pharmacy. Jackie was involved in the PHCCA, Plumbing- Heating-Cooling Contractors Association and held the office of Executive Secretary of PHCCA at the State Level. A special gift Jackie had was spending many hours caring for elderly friends and family members. She was an active member of local chapter of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of DOES where she was a 5 year Secretary, a 5 year Conductor and a 20 year treasurer. Pasttimes included following her grand-daughter Taylor’s activities. One of her highlights was watching Taylor (via the internet) receive her degrees as she graduated from college. She also enjoyed playing bridge, playing the penny slots and loved to dance. Survivors include her husband Bob of Kearney, son Michael and wife Rosanne of Columbus and their daughter, Taylor of Omaha. Also surviving are siblings, Kenneth (Linda) Anderson of Kearney, Cheryl Schroeder of Columbus, Tim (Carla) Anderson of Ashland and Cynthia (Jim) Fahrenbruch of Loomis. In-laws include Don (Marge) Wiester, Roger (Cookie) Wolford and Jerry (Suzie) Wiester of Kearney, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joyce & Ardis Anderson, parents-in-law Don & Katie Wiester and brother-in-law Norman Schroeder.
