Janice Power, 87 Gibbon resident Janice Power, 87, of Gibbon died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Faith United Church in Gibbon. The Rev. Mike Evans will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Faith United Church in Gibbon or the Spina Bifida Association. Born November 22, 1928 in Grand Island Nebraska and passed away May 21, 2016 at Mary Lanning Hospital, Hastings Nebraska at the age of 87. Janice was the daughter of Roy Elmer and Geneva Elizabeth (Reed) Wolford. After graduating from Shelton High School with honors in 1946, she attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduating in 1949. She loved music and was the accompanist to various choral groups throughout her school years. Janice and Tracil Leroy Power were married on October 9, 1949. They made their home in Gibbon and Shelton and were married for 59 years prior to Leroy’s passing in November of 2008. She was a lover of antiques and an enthusiastic flower and vegetable gardener. Some of her greatest joys in life were being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She especially loved preparing family meals, homemade rolls, pies and birthday cakes. She worked as a bookkeeper for Gangwish Farm & Grain at Shelton and later as credit department secretary/bookkeeper at Woolco Department Store in Grand Island, Nebraska as well as H&R Block. She took an active role in her church women’s groups. She was one of the first woman trustees of her church in Gibbon. Janice was a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter BI and Daughters of the American Revolution – Shelton Chapter. She is survived by son, Robert Lee Power and wife Vickie of Gibbon, daughter Nancy Elizabeth Holl and husband John of Shelton, daughter Tricia Louise Gangwish and husband Duane of Lincoln, son Tracil Al Power and wife Kim of Shelton. Eleven grandchildren; Troy Power and wife Vikki, Chad Power and wife Allison, Kelli Safranek and husband Craig, Jason Gangwish and wife Lesley, Blake Power and wife Emmy, Amy Lipp and husband Nick, Lloyd Holl and fiancé Nici Howell, David Gangwish and wife Katie, Tara Vasicek and husband James, Robyn Holl and Taylor Power. Great grandchildren; Logan Power, Ashlyn Power, Barrett Power, Rhett Safranek, Landon Power, Brielle Power, Shaylyn Safranek, Braydon Power, Roman Gangwish, Karrigan Gangwish, Lauren Vasicek, Drake Power, Naomi Lipp, Levi Gangwish, Jaxson Vasicek, Brynn Gangwish, Sienna Lipp, Kyla Gangwish, Cale Power, Josiah Gangwish, Calvin Lipp, Titus Gangwish, Blaire Power, Gavin Vasicek, Jessie Lipp. Sister, Patricia J. McMullen of Lancaster, California, brother-in-law Royal and wife Mari Power of Wichita, sister-in-law LaBerta and husband DeWayne Olson of Gibbon, sister-in-law Dorothy Power of North Platte, brother-in-law John and wife Nancy Power of Geneva. As well as numerous nephews and nieces and their families. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Wolford and wife Lillian, brother-in-law Ron Power, and sister-in-law Jane Wiles and husband Ernie.
