Kathryn M. Reynolds, 70, of Kearney died Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Memorial mass will be 10:30 AM, Monday July 26, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. The Rev. Mike McDonald will officiate. Interment will be at Kearney Cemetery. A prayer vigil will be Sunday, July 25 at 5:00 pm at the church. Memorials are suggested to Mt Carmel Home Keens Memorial. On-line condolences may be submitted to osafh.com. O'Brien Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. She was born Aug. 13, 1939 in Kearney to Charles and Ruth (Pflaum) Colgan. She grew up in the Kearney area, graduating from Elm Creek High School in 1957. She received her BA of Nursing degree from UNMC in 1961. From 1962-64 she worked in Las Vegas for the Clark County Schools. She later moved back to Kearney in 1964. She married James Simon in Kearney on August 14, 1964. He died in 1966. She married Wayne (Ed) Reynolds on Feb. 25, 1970 in Colorado Springs, CO. He died in 1996. She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 25 years before her retirement in 1989. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Buffalo County Immunization Clinic and worked as a Buffalo County poll worker. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney, American Nurse's Association, and the Nebraska Nurse's Association. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, football games, and trips to the Colgan Cabin. Survivors include her brother, Joe Colgan and wife, Mary of Durango, CO, brother-in-law, Clyde James and wife, Jan of Kearney, and sister-in-law Kay Tarr of Beatty Nevada. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews who she considered her children, Cindy and Tobin Houlden, Brian James, Tim James, and Robert James all of Kearney, Rob and Debbie Colgan of Azle Texas, Ann and Dave Stong of Alamosa Colorado, Amy and Troy Wilcox, Chris and Emil Martinez, and Jim and Kimen Colgan of Tucson Arizona, Nancy and Mark Blakeman of Carlin Nevada, Bill Marker of Beatty Nevada, Janice Engerran of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Tim and Kathy Marker of Decatur Georgia, Andy and Vicky Tarr of Winnemucca Nevada and Lance and Shelley Corbit of Yankton, SD and 22 great nieces and nephews and 4 great, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Jeffrey Reynolds, her sister, Theresa James, and her nephew-in-law Andrew Lopez
