Sheron Kay Dennis

Sheron Kay (Liebers) Dennis, 80, of Ravenna, Ne, died December 31, 2023 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 12 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. Interment will be held at Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. The funeral service will also be live streamed through the church’s website at https://www.kearneyfirstumc.org/watch-online. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Sheron was born April 1, 1943, to Elliott and Marian (Nelson) Liebers. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1960. She married Jerry Dennis on October 26, 1963. They later divorced in 1983. Four children were born to this union. Darin Duane, Jauni Kay, Jaimi Renae and one baby boy born at rest. In her younger years she was an avid bowler. She was also a very talented artist and crafter. She loved painting, crafts, cooking, canning, fishing, gardening and sewing. She was an amazing seamstress and was very generous with her talents. She could sew anything from Raggedy Ann dolls to prom dresses to very intricate Asian inspired dresses. She carried a deep love of animals all throughout her life especially her dogs, Tater and Buddy. Following her strokes and needing the care of a nursing home, she no longer could care for her dogs on her own. However, she found great pleasure in caring for her stuffed animals (her babies). During the last couple of years, her ability to communicate clearly became more difficult due to her strokes. However, there was one thing she never struggled with saying and that was "I love you" to all of her caregivers and her family. She will be remembered for her "I love you's" and her beautiful, bright smile. Left to cherish her memory are her children Darin Dennis of Ravenna, NE, Jauni Kay (Jeff) Tracy of Kearney, NE, and Jaimi (Brian) Riley of Louisburg, NC; grandchildren includes Darin's daughter Jeri Dawn Dennis; Jaimi (Brian) Riley's children - Rebecca, Blake, Ethan & Spencer; Jauni Kay (Jeff) Tracy's children - Tyler & Torrie; sister-in-law, Carol Liebers of Homer, AK and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elliott and Marian Liebers; brother Bill Liebers, sister Faye Rasmussen, brother-in-law Jim Rasmussen, ex-husband Jerry Dennis, infant son, infant granddaughter Hannah Renae, and numerous aunts and uncles. We would like to express our deep gratitude to her extended care team throughout the years. A special thank you to all the staff who cared for and loved on our mother throughout her time at Mother Hull Home. Words cannot express how thankful we truly are.
