Tobin Lee Roeder, 68, of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on January 17, 2026, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home, 4115 Avenue N, Kearney, Nebraska. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 at the funeral home, with internment to follow at Sumner Cemetery. Tobin was born on January 7, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Merwin and Donna Roeder. He graduated from Kearney Catholic High School in1976 and went on to attend Kearney State College, later earning a degree in Auto Mechanics from Central Community College. Tobin married Renee Jesseph in 1979. They later divorced, but she remained close with the family. In 2002, he met Dixie Brown through mutual friends. They shared 24 wonderful years together and were married in 2011. He was active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout Award. Tobin worked at Cash-WA, as a rural paper carrier for the Kearney Hub, and at Carquest. Tobin had a passion for NASCAR, drag racing, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, including Tony, Dillion, Carson, and Indy, who lived with them while growing up. Tobin and his father, Merwin, spent countless hours working in the garage they built together. A longtime friend, Dale Ebmeier, often joined Tobin there, enjoying time spent working on the '58 Chevy pickup. Whether working on cars in his garage or spending time with his grandchildren, Tobin's humor and laughter were never far from the room. He generously shared his car knowledge, always willing to help friends and family with repairs, advice, or a helping hand. Dogs were a constant presence in Tobin's life, and he cherished the companionship they brought him. He will be deeply missed by his cattle dog, Murphy. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dixie Roeder; his stepchildren, Wendy (Joe) Hiett, Jamie (Tim) Hord, April Journey, Amanda (Aaron) Poppert, Kristi Journey, Jessica Conway, Bryon (Lexi) Journey; 25 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jeri Roeder (Rick Schneider); his nephew, Adam Schneider (Mia Sharpnack); his nieces, Regan Schneider (Haeden Graewe) and Rylee (Steven) Hinze; his aunt, Shirley Swift; and his cousins, Louayne Hoback, Tracy Thomsen, Kerry Balk, and Tim (Monica) Steinauer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncles, Jean Swift and John Steinauer; his aunt, Letha Steinauer; and his brother-in-law, David Brown.
